Welcome to Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre (DMWSC)

The Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre (DMWSC), named after the founder of the Loreto Congregation, is the developmental wing of the Loreto sisters who work in the region of Darjeeling. Established in 2006, the centre facilitates programs of social support, and sustains the development and justice initiatives of the Loreto sisters. The DMWSC, under the West Bengal Act, became registered as a society in 2009. A number of worthwhile projects such as Collective Voices, Safe Migration, Ethical Enterprise Initiative for Youth, and Legal Aid Program have worked to help and address the injustices facing tea plantation communities, as well as other communities throughout the Darjeeling District. The DMWSC has made an important contribution in strengthening the communities in which it operates.
