DMWSC celebrated women’s day with the women tea plantation workers

To celebrate and reflect progress made to promote balance between men and women, DMWSC jointly with the women’s group from Adalpur tea garden celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. Despite continuous effort and progress, women are still failing in terms of their position in society amongst the poorest.  The programs had wide significance for the poor women from Aldalpur where violence against women is clandestine. DMWSC is working towards the realization of women’s empowerment and gender equality in the tea gardens of Matigara Subdivision through its Programme. A call for collective action towards gender parity was envisaged through this event. The occasion was graced by the presence of the Government Officers from Patharghatta G.P who expanded on different economic opportunities envisioned by the Government for the development of women. Social message on violence against women was imparted to the audience through skits and dances performed by the tribal women.
