On 6th March 2026, Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre observed the One Billion Rising Campaign along with International Women’s Day at Khoribari High School Playground. The event brought together community members, officials, and representatives from various organizations to raise awareness on women’s rights, dignity, and empowerment. The program was graced by distinguished guests including Gangotri Chakraborty, Roma Reshmi Ekka, and Pallab Kumar Das, along with other dignitaries, teachers, police and fire service officers, NGO representatives, and members of Loreto Convent Darjeeling.
Nearly 1,000 beneficiaries from 30 tea plantation areas participated in the program. The event featured dance performances, skits, slogans, and choreographed presentations organized by DMWSC, highlighting unity and the fight against gender-based violence.
The celebration served as a powerful platform to promote women’s rights, equality, safety, and dignity.
