Identifying who is poor and by how much is perplexing. Often the gloomy picture of social problems is hidden by the buildings and skyscrapers built across the city highways which gives one a delightful picture on the front and hides dreadful reality behind it. In our small effort to reach where the need is greatest, DMWSC (Darjeeling Mary Ward Social Centre) met with families who are jobless, single parents, sick and old on 24/11/2021, provided them food, essentials, and concern by visiting door to door in the slums of Bandrijote (Siliguri).
